Its official - the Olympics are coming

Earlier in the day, the five cities; Moscow, London, Madrid, New York and Paris made their final 45 minute presentations to the 100 IOC members. A strong London presentation was opened by BOA President and IOC Member, HRH Princess Anne with speeches from Tessa Jowell, Ken Livingstone and Seb Coe. The voting process ruled out Moscow and New York early and then the "dark horse" of the race, Madrid was also elminated. It was down to two; Paris and London. London came out the winners.

Simon Clegg, British Olympic Association Chief Executive commented on Radio Five Live; "It was so close - 54 to 50 votes! What a fantastic result for the whole country and an especially British sport - this is just the beginning!"
