KWPN Stud Book

The KWPN Studbook (Royal Warmblood Studbook of the Netherlands) is the Dutch breeding organization for jumping and dressage horses. The KWPN Studbook has over 28,000 members in the netherlands.

The KWPN is an association with a democratically representative structure. The Board of Directors consists out of elected representatives from all the KWPN departments. It is the most important component of the organization.

The Board of Directors determines the budget and the annual report, outlines the direction of the General Administration. The General Administration handles the day to day leadership of the studbook. Under the leadership of the director, the employees of the KWPN are responsible for the execution of policy as determined by the Administration and the Board. On the technical side of breeding, the General Administration has an important advisory council in the Breeding Advisory Board. The administration takes the breeding advice under consideration and on the basis of these suggestions directs the breeding guidelines of the organization. On local level, the KWPN is organized into divisions. Within provinces the divisions are combined into regional councils, which are responsible for the organization of the keuringen.
