Franke Sloothaak was born February 2, 1958 spent the early part of his show jumping carrear in the UK training under the legendary show jumping trainers Ted & Liz Edgar.
Franke Sloothaak became a leading German show jumping rider Franke Sloothaak and has represented his country in many Nation Cups aswell as the olympic games.Franke Sloothaak competed for West Germany at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, where he received a bronze medal in team show jumping, and at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, where the team received a gold medal. Franke Sloothaak also participated for Germany at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, where he won a gold medal in Team Jumping, together with Lars Nieberg, Ulrich Kirchhoff and Ludger Beerbaum.
