Cheshire based show jumping rider Geoff Billington has been a leading figure on the show jumping circuit for over 30 years. He boasts both European and World Championship team bronze medals and has won numerous grands prix.he is also is a two times olympian with his legendary horse It’s Otto who together they formed one of the best show jumping partnerships in the world competing all around the world. The duo went on to amass over £650,000 winnings, made 15 Nations Cup appearances, were Britain's highest-placed partnership at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and represented Britain again at the Sydney Olympics in 2000. Following his individual achievement at the Atlanta Olympics, Geoff Billington was awarded the 'Horse and Hound Equestrian Personailty of the Year' and his horse It's Otto was voted the 'Outstanding Horse of 1996.' It's Otto retired at Olympia 2001.
Geoff Billington has been riding since the age of eleven and has been established for several years as one of Britain's top riders. He first competed abroad in 1976 in Olsztyn, Poland, on a Nations Cup Team riding Talk of the North. In 1995, Geoff Billington competed at the World Cup finals and was selected for the European Championships, but unfortunately his ride It's Otto went lame just before he was due to go.
Geoff Billington has also made a name for himself with impressions of his fellow riders as well as presenting the 'Simply the Best Tour' in partnership with John Whitaker. Geoff Billington is also a gifted public speaker and often finds his way to the commentry box at shows and gives entertaining informative demonstrations.
Geoff Billington hs three sons, James, Marcus and Daniel and One daughter, His eldest son James Billington is following in his farthers footsteps and becoming a succesful showjumper himself.
