Welsh showjumper Andrew Davies needs no introduction he has long been one of the leading showjumping riders in the BSJA rankings, from a young age Andrew Davies was successful in young rider classes with the mare Miniature Quickstep. Andrew Davies successfully competed many other horses including Captain Wellington who he was short listed for the 2000 Australian Olympics with. Andrew Davies was also very successful ring the gelding Limbo with whom he led the leading horse ranking in the BSJA. More recently Andrew Davies competed the trakenher stallion Sir Graditz.

Debutante - Born in 1987, Debutante was competed by showjumping legend Liz Edgar, but Andrew Davies did jump this impressive mare when Liz Edgar retired from jumping.

Hopes Are High - An Irish bred show jumping horse Hopes are high was successful in the show jumping ring with three British riders Andrew Davies, Nick Skelton and Matthew Broome. Hopes are high was born in 1989 and is by Irish stallion Flagmount Diamond who bloodline goes back to the legendary King of Diamonds. Victories for Hopes are high include; King George v gold cup with Nick Skelton, Gijon Grand Prix.

Captain Wellington, Dies Age 22

Legendary showjumper Captain Wellington passes away age 22, Captain Wellington and Andrew Davies became one of the most successful partnerships in the world, with a unorthodox jumping style the partnership represented Team GB on 8 occasions including being members of the British gold medal winning team at Aachen in the Nations cup final of 2000.

Bred and produced by Huw Jones, before going to Andrew Davies, Captain Wellington had career winnings in excess of £130,000, which also included wins in the Millstreet world cup . Captain Wellington retired in 2003 to Huw’s South Glamorgan home.

Andrew Davies Withdraws From Super League Nations Cup Final



Due to ill health, Andrew Davies is unfortunately unable to compete in this weekends Super League Nations Cup Final in Barcelona. The team therefore will now feature Robert Smith, Michael Whitaker, Richard Davenport and Scott Smith. Andrew is currently at home resting and hopes to be back in the saddle very soon.

Andrew Davies 3rd In Calgary Grand Prix

Andrew Davies from Warrington, Cheshire finished third in yesterdays world-famous Spruce Meadows Grand Prix netting himself a payout of over £45,000. Andrew riding Mandy Halls 10 year-old, dutch-bred bay gelding by Esteban, lowered just one pole in the jump-off to finish behind eventual winner, Germanys Otto Becker and runner-up, American Molly Ashe. Michael Whitaker and Fleur 195 finished in sixth place with Nick Skelton riding John and Lisa Hales stallion, Arko III in 7th place.

Andrew Davies Shares Spoils in Olympia Six Bar

Andrew Davies and his top ride Captain Wellington put on an impressive show in the Christmas Eve Six Bar, taking joint first place with German rider Franke Sloothaak. A last minute decision to start the unorthodox gelding proved fruitful but Andrew was not confident of proceeding past the first round of the competition and was pleased with the 15 year old veteran showjumper.

Andrew Davies goes to fifth in Western European League

A win with Captain Wellington here at the prestigious Millstreet world cup qualifier has moved Andrew Davies to fifth place and set him in a good position to campaign for a place in the final. First in the jump off Andrew and Wellington had a rail, but Edward Doyle the sole competitor through to the final round with Andrew knocked two fences down for 8 faults. Andrew who will be competing at Olympia later in the year, has to consider if he will go to another world cup event to see if he is able to keep the points up and keep him in contention for the final.
