Two French riders topped the Meydan Open Riders World Ranking for FEI year end results. Virginie Atger, who was ranked fifth in the world last year, topped the list in 2010 by just 14 points over fellow Frenchwoman Sarah Chakil. In 2010 Atger won a number of rides, including the CEI*** 160-km Sommant and 160-km Rambouillet in France. She also finished 10th in the World Endurance Championship in Lexington, Kentucky.

US long list released for endurance world champs

A Kutt Above and Jeremy Reynolds have been named to the US team's Long List for the 2012 FEI World Endurance Championships later this year, after victory in the recent 160km contest at the Priefert Ranch in Mt Pleasant, Texas.

In a close race to the finish Reynolds guided A Kutt Above to the win in 8:16:03, narrowly beating out Wendy MacCoubrey and Reach for the Gold (8:16:05) and Becky Hart riding No Repeat (8:16:09).

Dutch championship TREC was held last weekend in Hoenderloo. Seven riders competed in the highest class (T4) against each other. Renske Giesen eventually went away with the title. Britain`s medal hope comes a cropper at vet gate

Britain's WEG endurance team of Ros Clapp, Christine Yeoman, David Yeoman (all from Somerset) and Beccy Broughton-Booker had mixed fortunes in the States. After the first four loops, Ros was the fastest of the team riders, with Christine and David not far behind and a medal was on the cards.

SUNDAY October 30 saw a group of determined riders take part in the 33rd Arab Marathon at Larkhill Racecourse, Salisbury. The event sponsored by South Essex Insurance Brokers (SEIB) boasted a first prize of £1,000. The winner of the Marathon Challenge Trophy, together with the £1,000, was Alan Brown from Shropshire with his Arab horse, Bakst, bred by Finn Guinness of the Biddesden Stud. Baltonsborough rider Ros Clapp has been selected for the Great Britain endurance team for the World Equestrain Games which start this weekend in Kentucky.
