On Nov. 15 the Maryland Horse Industry Board (MHIB) presented its "Touch of Class" Award to Anne Arundel resident and horse trainer John Crandell III and his Endurance Triple Crown winning Arabian gelding, Heraldic, who together won two silver medals from the Endurance competition at the Pan American Games, held in Chile on Oct. 21. World Games for rider Ros Clapp

Baltonsborough rider Ros Clapp has been selected for the Great Britain endurance team for the World Equestrain Games which start this weekend in Kentucky. The 16-day event, which starts on Saturday, will see Clapp and her horse Nazeeka competing in the long distance horse riding event which starts on Sunday.

This will be Clapp's first appearance at world level, having competed in the European Endurance Championships in Assisi, Italy, last year.<

Britain`s medal hope comes a cropper at vet gate

Britain's WEG endurance team of Ros Clapp, Christine Yeoman, David Yeoman (all from Somerset) and Beccy Broughton-Booker had mixed fortunes in the States. After the first four loops, Ros was the fastest of the team riders, with Christine and David not far behind and a medal was on the cards.

But after the fifth loop, Ros's horse Nazeeka was eliminated at the vet gate for irregular metabolics, which ended any medal hopes.

Dutch championship TREC was held last weekend in Hoenderloo. Seven riders competed in the highest class (T4) against each other. Renske Giesen eventually went away with the title. Multi-Talented Former jockey, journalist and founder of the Injured Jockeys Fund Lord John Oaksey has sadly died aged 83.

Oaksey has been battling with ill health and passed away on Wednesday at his family home in Wiltshire.
