Edward Evans established Westpoint Stud in 1990 - based on Shropshire/Powys border. Edward has been breeding competition horses all his life and is an approved BEF Young Horse Evaluator.

About Us
   Edward Evans established Westpoint Stud in 1990 and such has been the success of the stud and its development in to a reputable AI Centre that in January 2009 Westpoint Stud & AI Centre moved to larger facilities, at an easily accessible location on the Shropshire/Powys border, approximately 10 miles from Shrewsbury. Increased acreage at the new location provides for quality grazing, haylage and grain production making the stud virtually self-sufficient.

Fresh/chilled/frozen semen inseminations, in association with Mark Baines BVSc, MRCVS of Fyrnwy Equine Clinics, provide access to a whole range of top class performance stallions across the UK and Europe. Edward strives to satisfy a growing desire amongst UK breeders, he included, to see British riders on British bred horses competing internationally and winning medals at top world level.

Embryo Transfer [ET] programmes, in association with Fyrnwy Equine Clinics, are also available and act as an auxiliary service for those mare owners who would benefit from the opportunity of a surrogate mare carrying their desired foal to full term and nursing it until its weaned A dedicated, purpose built ET unit provides the ideal environment to conduct procedures, thereby ensuring the best success rates.

Attention to detail is vital and all facilities are managed with the support of Edward’s wife Caroline and dedicated staff. The family lives on site and is able to offer 24 hour supervision. The stud appreciates how precious mares/foals are to their owners and to this end all facilities are managed to ensure a comfortable and safe stay for visiting mares and foals.

Westpoint Stud has its own breeding programme. Progeny are bred for all disciplines – see Picture Gallery. Bloodlines of progeny for sale can be viewed on Sales List. Edward closely supervises the breaking of the youngsters he breeds and is confident of their rideability /trainability before offering them for sale. He does little advertising as purchasers seek him out through word of mouth and having seen homebred progeny compete.
